Lumberjacks in Hell was founded in 2010 by Amsterdam based Marcel Vogel. The label started out as a platform for his original productions and edits, and over the last 8 years has turned into an established brand known for providing magnetic house and disco. The label’s ethos is 100% dance floor based music, which tips its hat to the founding cities of Chicago and Detroit. To celebrate 8 years of indisputable success, Lumberjacks in Hell have released a compilation album on BBE music, which features 11 different artists. Some of the standout names on the compilation are Seven Davis Jr, Nachtbraker and Harry Wolfman among others.
However, what’s most notable about this release is the amount of fresh names that feature. It’s inspiring to see a successful label release music from new comers, as they could have called on a variety of widely known and well-established artists to fill out the compilation. For all the budding producers out there, take note!
Our standout track from the 11-track compilation is a party starting disco number by Reece Johnson, titled “Neyt Life”. This track has everything you could expect from a timeless disco classic; it features irresistible percussion, vocals which will not leave your mind for weeks and dancing melodies throughout. Reece Johnson usually produces straight up 90’s House jams and has released music on some fantastic labels, most notably 124 Recordings (one to check for the house heads), Roots for Bloom, Inner City and the legendary Nervous Records. The compilation album is out now and is available both digitally and on vinyl.
