For those that don’t know, Swales is an up and upcoming DJ and producer based out of Manchester. Having come out with releases on taste-making labels such as Dansu Discs and Honey Butter Records, the young artist is quickly building a name for himself for his own brand of well-selected, disco sampled melodies. To get us ready for the day-time disco season that’s upon us, Swales has put together an edit of Inner Life’s 1981 cover of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for the new London label Another Rhythm – and what an absolute groover of a chune it is!

When describing what he wanted to achieve when producing the song, Swales says, “[Higher] was created with the intention of combining a classic feel-good disco sound with modern influences; mixing the old with the new to create the best of both [worlds].” In doing so, Swales has put together a track that maintains the melodic elements of the spine-tingling original but strips it back just enough to make room for his own gritty, dancefloor essentials that take it to whole new level.
