Baldo and Carlo’s Neovinyl Recordings are back with another remix collection, in the form of Random Remixes 3. The four track drop brings together Tech Support, Flabaire, Ruff Stuff and Till Von Sein on remix duty for tracks from the label’s recent releases. Our premiere today focuses on the latter’s entry, which sees the German deep house producer taking the scalpel to the laidback Brazilian disco stylings of Babak‘s “Mon Repos“.
For his flip, Till Von Sein fattens up the groove with a big kick and 808-layered clap, laying down some extra hats to formalize this as a heavier-use remix. Gone is the looser, sample-based bassline of the original – replaced by a more controlled, driving synth bass under the sweet guitar strums. The track builds towards it’s climax via some afro-brazilian drum breaks and vocal samples, before dropping into a tighter interpolation of arguably the tastiest sample from Babak’s piece. It’s a delicate and playful lead that rides the song to it’s conclusion. All in all, a short but sugary arrangement that could do wonders slid in as a change of pace during a peak hour set.
Random Remixes 3 is available for purchase digitally next week.
