London’s Hardmatter returns with their fourth release, another from label co-boss JVXTA who is well known for fantastic outings on HOMAGE and Lobster Theremin. The package is more of what we’ve come to expect from the rising UK producer, 3 gorgeous deep house cuts that walk the line between fever dream and drunken jazz club.
The A side, Possible, finds JVXTA in top form with a medley of classic sampling, live keys and a driving late-night groove. The flip side, Suzuku Dream, delivers a more serene affair with enveloping chords and freeform strings. Hints of out of key strings follow persian scales, an unexpected but welcome touch that adds a layer of mysticism to an already enchanting track. The EP finishes with the jazz of Here I’ll Stay, a vibrant jam that leaves us with an ode to the future of Hardmatter.
The record is out now via Hardmatter’s Bandcamp and most online retailers of vinyl. Grab it and show some support for the young label.
