Ada Kaleh – Affection Over Reason [Dialogue Records]

Ada Kaleh - Affection Over Reason
LA events series Dialogue launches its own Dialogue Records this April with Ada Kaleh’s ‘Solace In Repetition’ EP, backed with remixes from SIT and Shaun Reeves.

The past few years have seen Los Angeles based events promoter Dialogue carve out a name for itself in the underground electronic music scene stateside, welcoming the likes of Sonja Moonear, Binh, Barac and Raresh amongst others to its events. Here the now reputed brand inaugurates its new imprint, Dialogue Records, with material from Ada Kaleh, delivering his unique twist on micro leaning house and techno with two originals, while Cristian-Ioan Munteanu and Vlad Caia aka SIT, and Visionquest’s Shaun Reeves both interpret the second original.

Leading the release is Kaleh’s original mix of title-cut ‘Solace In Repetition’, a nine minute composition snaking its way through circling arpeggios, ethereal pads, modulating synths and bumpy bass stabs atop an intricate, dynamic rhythm. The second original, ‘Affection Over Reason’ follows, tipping the aesthetic over to subtly nuanced, hypnotic synth work, swirling dub echoes and skippy drums.

The SIT take on ‘Affection Over Reason’ leads on the B-side next, the Sushitech/Amphia duo deliver a typically groove-drive twist, laying focus on cinematic textures, gritty bass tones and a swinging drum groove. Shaun Reeves then wraps things up with his remix of ‘Affection Over Reason’, stripping things down for a reduced and robust dance floor cut. Bringing resonant modulations, tension building atmospherics and crunchy drums into focus.
