Portente x SOLIT – Spooked The Librarian [Mirage Sud]

Straight out of the Netherlands, Portente and SOLIT meet beneath the fractured light of disco balls. Very quickly, their worlds intertwine, giving birth to a collaborative EP for the fifth release on Mirage Sud, featuring a remix by Belgrade producer Cosmic G. Conceived for spring, this EP reveals a prog house/trance vision that is both ethereal and hypnotic, stretching toward the first light of dawn.

Irony opens like a glossy drama on a festival dancefloor: enveloping melody, melancholic tension, fleeting sensuality. An anthem for destinies brushing past each other in the course of a single dance. In contrast, Spooked the Librarian feels more hushed, almost secretive. Phased chords layer in cyclical loops, forming a haunting, addictive hook designed for the depths of the club.

Each artist also delivers a solo piece, like two mirrors reflecting their collaboration. SOLIT returns to the essence with It Runs Deep: minimal groove, crisp percussion, a lush pad and warm bassline with subtly Chandlerized ’90s house accents. On Simulacrum, Portente explores mise en abyme: serpentine motifs charm and shift through the stereo field over a firm bassline and tight drums, before dissolving into an angelic final breath.

Cosmic G closes the journey by tipping light into shadow. Altered acid lines, suspended vocals, a psychedelic spiral: one last reflection before everything fades.
