Mirror Touch – Astral Mechanics (Dan Curtin Remix) [Metamorphic Recordings]

MET038-A_PRINT_FINAL

Metamorphic is happy to announce a new artist to the label family! Mirror Touch is a new project from London-based producer, Tim Van Zandyke. The sound of Mirror Touch can best be described by a moment in time when mid 90’s trax records from the US Midwest combined techno’s brutalist grooves with layers of emotive harmonies harking back to Detroit’s funk, soul and jazz legacy. The techno sound hurtled forward, blazing new paths of experimentation, minimalism and hypnosis. MirrorTouch points back to that magic moment when Techno emerged from Detroit, with a series of hardware tracks that combine emotional rawness with the flow of 21st century techno.

Opener “Balancing” flows elegantly, directly driven as lush and silk like synths all communicate in perfect harmony. Blurring the lines between genres once more is “Astral Mechanics”, transcending and dreamy sounds fill out the space around clean drums and crisp claps, thought provoking and emotive music.  The mastermind behind the multiple decade spanning label, Dan Curtin, creates an electro tinged remix of “Astral Mechanics”, meandering mechanical whirrs and bleeps make this a rugged affair, flipping the coin on the original. Closing the EP is “Prophet Motive”, cruising into the sun set, riding an elastic groove which leads you down a path of curiosity.  A masterclass of techno nostalgia, rough and ready for modern day dancefloors. Mirror Touch fully captures the essence of the legendary Metamorphic label.
