Madcat – Amanitore [Pont Neuf Records]

For a little over a year, nobody can stop Madcat: two first sell-out EPs on Folamour’s label, FHUO, and on Pont Neuf, a track “Heard It” which quickly accumulated more than a million views, as well as being the curator of a compilation 3615 Disco, gathering many producers from the new French house scene. The ‘prince of the soulful house’ (Trax Magazine) is not that kind of person who likes to stay inactive. With his new coming EP “Queens of Sand” the Parisian producer takes us into a new story as rousing as mystical, continuing to break away from the codes of classic disco-house by blithely mixing them with hip-hop rhythms from across the Atlantic.

The EP begins with “Amina de Zaria”, a downtempo introduction supported by a catchy guitar riff that immediately sets a funky scene for what’s following on this new release. Then comes “Amanitore”, our premiere today, with its dreamy piano line and its guitar with a special touch on which comes a voice that sounds like a message of love to the fans of the Parisian producer. The second part of the maxi opens with “Reine de Saba”, a track really cut for the most euphoric hours of a club, mixing aerial melodies and vocals with a rhythm as raw as effective. This new EP ends on “Cléopâtre VII”. At first meditative and nostalgic, it turns into an ideal track for the end of a great party, when everyone has given everything on the dancefloor.
