Duality Trax is a contemporary, forward-thinking record label from the creative mind of Irish selector Holly Lester. Encouraging inclusivity, togetherness and collaboration, the label seeks to draw inspiration from the contrasting but balancing energies that exist within us all. In keeping with the label’s ethos, each release aims to consistently feature artists of all genders. With two vinyl releases since the label’s conception in early 2020, Duality Trax makes its first foray into compilation territory, pooling together some of the most interesting acts emerging from house, techno and beyond.
Bouncing from the US to Europe, the VA skips through a multitude of moods and genres across seven tracks – including acid-tinged electro from New York, breaks infused garage from Chicago, rave-fuelled house from Belgium and a pulsating trance-inspired club track from Estonia.The latter comes courtesy of Abdul Raeva, a project between Coymix Ltd and Gestalt Records founder Steffan Todorović and Joonas Arro (aka Rashida Prime / Ray Faded). Following on from their latest output on Bristol label Mint Tea, the Tallinn-based duo deliver with their high octane take on tech trance.
Sprinkled with glitchy 8-bit samples, laser tag sound effects and driving 303licks, ‘Pearlescent’ is reminiscent of the type of track you’d hear in the 90’s on a virtual reality simulator.
