‘Hurlee’ returns to GLBDOM, following on from his deep, jazzy ‘Saxxx01’ which you will have heard on the ‘3 Years Of GLBDOM’ compilation. With an already heavy discography, this release is most definitely In keeping with his infectious and uplifting production style.

This time the seasoned Mallorca-based producer returns with ‘About Her EP’ a time warp portal straight back to the 90’s New York house scene, Paradise Garage, Zanzibar et al. Hurlee’s influences are clear to see here once again. Classic drum machines and luscious synths such as the infamous Juno 106 and Korg M1 all make an appearance on this EP.

The drums on ‘Piano Haven’ have that classic drum machine vibe; the heavily swung percussive elements keep the rhythm interesting and give it that authentic late 90’s house feel. As suggested by the track title, ‘Piano Haven’ is built around an upbeat revolving piano hook that dips in and out in different forms, packing some serious soulful energy when it peaks, making this record work so well on a busy, vibrant dance floor.

With summer on the way, it’s house season, and this EP will be smashing dance floors and parties worldwide!

Cinthie’s Collective Cuts sub-label of her 803 Crystal Grooves imprint returns in February with a fresh four-tracker from Belgium’s UC Beatz.

Hailing from Brussels, Belgium, UC Beatz has been steadily making his mark on the contemporary house scene via releases on the likes of Razor N Tape, Roundabout Sounds, his own Entrepôt Records and Cinthie’s Collective Cuts where he returns here for a full length EP, following his contribution to the various artist package which preceded this one.

‘Bongos, Rhodes & Candles’ leads the EP, the title perfectly setting the tone as organic drums, hazy chords and a jazz leaning house aesthetic propels you into UC Beatz world. ‘Wild Horse’ follows next, stripping things back to shuffled drums, sharp stab sequences, choppy vocals and a gritty bass line.

Opening the flip is ‘Sunshine On My Mind’, shifting focus to deeper sounds with fluttering pads, bright resonant synth licks and bubbling arpeggios while a dynamic drum workout keeps things moving. ‘Vertigo’ then rounds things out with crunchy percussion, jazzy piano lines and squelchy acid licks.

Frappé is a Parisian-based label founded in 2019, passionate about electronic music and its French ways, inhabited by the energy of the dancefloor and motivated by the desire to produce artists with a rare sense of groove and a signature sound. Basile (aka Basile de Suresnes) and Bruno (aka Ten Fingerz) initiated the project, the 2 DJs and producers previously founded former Parisian crew Paris Bouillant, with which they organized music electronic events in Paris over the last 4 years in venues like Java, Badaboum, Alimentation Générale, Panic Room.

Influenced by the music produced during the FrenchTouch years of the 90s and 00s and by artists like Bangalter, Crydamour or Cassius, the label aim is to showcase varied productions which will have in common the powerful and original sound that is so typical of the « French Touch ». The label finds its inspiration in the earlier productions but claims to be grounded in today’s trends, as this style of House music proves to be more and more attractive these days. « FÊTE EN L’AIR », the first EP to be released at the end of May, is the project’s first
achievement.

Strongly influenced by the club culture and the FrenchTouch sound, Frappé are aiming to showcase a powerful and dancefloor-oriented style of House music. This first EP is inspired by earlier productions adding in the mix today’s codes and references. Listening to the EP, one can hear samples and Lo-Fi works as well as the sound of mythical machines like the TR909 and TB303. For this first release, Frappé have been eager to put the spotlight on artists they strongly believe in, who are rising talents of the French House music scene : Madcat, and Deborah Aime La Bagarre. The artists and founding members Basile de Suresnes and Ten Fingerz complete the roster.

Southern England’s Simon Shaw has been building a steady production career over the past few years after cutting his teeth as a DJ and promoter over the past decade, recent times have seen him release material on DJ Steaw’s House Puff and his own Sense Traxx amongst others. Here though he joins we_r_house, following releases from Carlo Gambino and Sam Haskin this year.

‘Crystal’ takes the A1 slot, fusing hazy dubbed out chords, square wave bass stabs and swirling synths with a sturdy rhythmic foundation and an amalgamation of spoken word vocals. ‘Meth’ follows next, laying focus on heavily swung, dynamic drums an organ like melodic hook and sweeping delays throughout.

First up on the flip is ‘Late Night In Milan’, stripping things back to skippy percussion and bumpy sub hits at it’s core while sequences of airy deep house chords and bright strings ebb and flow within. ‘It’s Not The Way’ then completes the EP, retaining a similar aesthetic via snaking low-end hits, shuffled drums and ethereal synth textures while stirring in a heady resonant swell and chanting vocals to keep things moving.

Lucas Lee aka Sweater has long been a staple of the Philadelphia House scene, holding a residency at the Imprint parties in the city as well as Brooklyn charity party MOVE. This year will also see releases on L.A’s These Things Take Time and Natural Sciences but first up is his ‘Power House’ EP for the fledgling Mixed Feelings Music, headed up by Jonny Sum out of Brooklyn.

Title-cut ‘Power House’ is up first and as the name would suggest Sweater delivers a raw and rugged House cut driven by swinging, saturated drums and a snaking sub bass groove, running alongside an amalgamation of ethereal pad textures, resonant synth sequences and brass licks to create a perfect slice of sun drenched soul for the dance floor.

‘Give Me Release’ follows, taking a contrasting approach aesthetically as Sweater introduces off-kilter, dynamic drums alongside sweeping synth flutters, choppy organ stabs, intricate intertwining melodies and hazy vocal chants uttering the tracks title.
