With Sonic Search, Matière present our most ambitious project to date: a various artists released across four volumes. Instead of condensing all tracks into a single release, we chose to expand the compilation to give each piece the space it deserves, while allowing the concept to fully unfold.
Inspired by the ancient theory of ether, once imagined as the invisible substance filling the void and binding forces together, Sonic Search takes shape as a spectral current flowing through multiple aesthetics. From ambient to trance, jungle to techno, the tracks collide, repel, or complement one another, revealing unexpected correspondences between light and shadow, organic and mineral, science and mysticism.
Sonic Search forges bridges between artists who, at first glance, seem worlds apart. Each volume gathers singular universes and sets them into dialogue, until they converge into a common wave ; fragile yet furious, luminous yet abyssal. Here, the diversity of genres dissolves into a single motion, a shared urge to go further than established forms.
