Rymdeko – Rymdeko EP [Postseason Franchise Records]

Florent — Sat, 15 Feb 2020 13:00:23 +0000

Postseason Franchise Records steps into 2020 poised to share their first vinyl release from Brooklyn via Sweden duo Rymdeko. Label heads The Space Wanderer and TTilawok recorded Rymdeko in the span of a snowy week at Elektronmusikstudion in Sweden. The EP is a mind-bending journey throughout psychedelic dub techno and beyond. A nod to their shared influences as well as their own solo creations, Rymdeko showcases a refreshingly honest take on techno from two longtime collaborators and friends.

Rymdeko is an exploration of evolving arpeggiated textures and deep minimal grooves. While pulsing bass lines meander the craggy landscape, majestic synth patterns peer through the starlit sky. The deep grooves are both contemplative yet energizing. Ambient textures are balanced with rhythmic groove. It is a track that is as apt for the dance floor as it is the living room. The sense of duality across the entire EP is what makes this project truly special.

Rymdeko drops March 13 worldwide and there will be a limited run of translucent red vinyl available on the Postseason Franchise Records Bandcamp. You can also pick up a copy at select records stores across NYC, LA, and SF.

Kerri Chandler, Jerome Sydenham – Powder (Henrik Schwarz Remix) [Madhouse Records]

Madhouse Records reveal their second ‘Kerri Chandler Remixed’ instalment with fresh interpretations from Henrik Schwarz, D’Julz, KETTAMA and Marquis Hawkes.

Founded in 1992, Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records has been flying the flag within electronic music as one of the industry’s most well respected and quintessential imprints for over 25 years, delivering quality productions from leading names across the complete house sphere. Having welcomed Detroit Swindle, Peggy Gou, Josh Butler and Jimpster to remix Chandler in their first ‘Remixed’ instalment, released in early 2018, here we see the imprint revisit the label founder’s iconic discography once again as four new names rework a fresh selection of both solo and collaborative cuts, with Henrik Schwarz, D’Julz, KETTAMA and Marquis Hawkes combining to deliver Vol. 2 this October.

Up first, our premiere today, Henrik Schwarz’s take on Chandler and Jerome Sydenham’s 1999 cut ‘Powder’ builds upon the original production’s slick drum work with rich, jazz-tinged chords to reveal an elegant and stylish slice of house music, whilst D’Julz’s groove-heavy remix of ‘Peace Of Mind’ fuses dubby pads and skipping organic drums packed full of swing as the Parisian turns in yet another must-have effort. Next, KETTAMA’s bustling ‘Garage Remix’ of Kerri and Lafayette’s ‘Better Late Than Ever’ takes cues from its title as the Irish talent hones in on a snaking, driving bassline accented by classic soulful vocal hooks, before rounding out proceedings in style through Marquis Hawkes ‘Classic Club Vocal’ remix of Kerri Chandler and Jiletta Riley’s ‘The Way It Was’, unveiling a sun-soaked and infectious final cut that pays homage to Chandler’s trademark New Jersey palette in ever-impressing fashion.

The vinyl is out now and the digital is scheduled for release in just a few days.

Das Carma – Liftoff Cloud 9 [STRCTR Records]

igor bezuglov — Wed, 27 Feb 2019 16:30:38 +0000

Today we received warm tidings from the south of France via Germany. STRCTR Records is providing us with their fifth EP, a very deep escape into the rhythm, deep grooves, and loose cuts. The French label is becoming a little asset for the house scene as it works with names like Harrison BDP, Matthieu Faubourg and the latest, the duo ‘Das Carma‘.

Upon discovering that they have a similar taste in music, the two producers behind Das Carma teamed up. They entered the game in 2013 and since then, they have been very passionate and productive producers over the years. Productive indeed. If you look at the number of recordings in 6 years: 124. On the upcoming 125th, the two producers showcase different styles and in our eyes release an EP full of “proper house music“ like they used to say. However, we are happy premiere their track “Liftoff Cloud 9” off of the forthcoming release.

The track is a solid deep house tune which has sparkling highs and sweet chords which give us a light and airy feeling, both overtop a deep as you like bassline. A common side effect of this effective formula is excessive foot tapping. In the end, all there is to say is that they’ve done it again and delivered us some proper house music.

If you already like Das Carma from previous releases, then this one won’t disappoint you and you should not hesitate to do a full exploration of their new EP. Be sure to grab your copy as soon as possible here or at the usual haunts.
