The opener ‘We Are The Little Ones’ is about an evil robot factory in a futuristic dystopian city. It is a coruscated electro-funk workout with crisp analogue drums and nimble bass overlaid with withering sci-fi melodies. ‘We Don’t Need A Real World’ is a superbly cinematic eight-minute excursion with widescreen synth work taking you to the stars as you ride an elastic bassline. The majestic ‘City Under The Sea’ then layers up neck-snapping snares with cosmic arps and plunging bass and ‘Cleopatra’s Matrix’ soundtracks an ancient Egyptian city with its mystic leads and eerie pads luring you into a late-night electro trance.

West Coast pin-up and hugely prolific electronic innovator Legowelt remixes ‘We Are The Little Ones’. His version has plenty of his textbook intrigue, lo-fi texture and magical synth charm, and finally key Bunker Records associate Rude 66 flips ‘City Under The Sea’ into a snaking dub rhythm with hypnotic acid lines and seductive vocal whispers woven in deep.

This second of its kind double vinyl compilation will include music from Tyrone Douglas, Chaos In The CBD, Shanti Celeste, The Burrell Connection, Legowelt, R-A-G, Andy Hart, Neville Watson and Yohinori Hayashi. As always, we’re delighted to be able to bring you another premiere and this time it’s R-A-G’s tune Augustus.

R-A-G (soundcloud) is the pseudonym for a trio of producers who are better known as Aroy Dee, G String and MA Spaventi. Usually found on Aroy Dee’s M>O>S Recordings, these producers are best known for their raw, analog, house leaning sounds. Augustus is no different, instantly grabbing your attention with an in-your-face, gritty bassline which also doubles as the lead. Haunting strings creep in creating a darker, moodier atmosphere while tastefully distorted drums amp up as the track progresses. Spacey noises whirl around throughout, lending a cosmic ambience to the whole affair.

Alessandroid, co-founder of Montreal dance party Raw Feelings, has been a jock in his city for a hot minute. They’ve booked the likes of Cloudface, Luca Lozano, Willie Burns, Voiski, and Basic Soul Unit amongst others. This year their halloween party is set to feature Legowelt live. Alessandroid has been a supporting act for the likes of Ryan Elliot, Octave One, Lil Louis, Fred P and Steve Bicknell. He’s performed for club nights and promoters around the city, including Montreal’s renowned Stereo Nightclub.

He spent the summer in Europe; digging in Florence, Berlin and Amsterdam. He made a mix for us as soon as he got back, it features 7 records from the buy. He also wrote a few words about these records and his experiences abroad.

I visited 11 stores in 3 different countries and came home with 70 some records. Seven of which are featured in this recording:

This find surprised me. I had listened to it many times before in my car in a Carlos Souffront DJ set, never knowing what it was. Found it at Danex Records in Florence; I was impressed with their collection of near mint early house original pressings. Discogs release page.

I bought this record off Laurine, one of three DJs part of the Slow Life crew. We were at the Slow Life and Libertine Crew Bikini Waxx Market Sale. The two storied shop was packed and the courtyard was full of people enjoying pwyc beers as Saverio Celestri was DJing inside.

Bought this at Disco Scratch in Florence, which is essentially an online store location of distribution. I walked an hour out of the city centre and ended up near the airport. I walked into the poorly lit room and was greeted by a very affectionate big white dog. I took a seat with the store keeper and went through their inventory of new releases. If it sold out in most online stores, then they probably still have a copy of it. Discogs release page.

In 40 minutes I found 4 great records at Distortion Records in Amsterdam. The store is mess of vinyl and induces digging. Whatever isn’t priced is then matched on discogs: Al kent / Discogs: Gary’s Gang.

On my second visit to Bikini Waxx Gerd was playing this classic as I walked in. The store was empty and the listening was easy. Two days later I heard Marquis Hawkes play that same song at Heideglühen.
