In terms of consistency, they don’t come much higher than Whiskey Disco. The Orlando outlet specialise in classic disco & edits, all on timeless vinyl. Never will a Whisky Disco record fail to get any dancefloor rocking. They’ve been delivering top quality music since starting out in 2009, and with artists such as “Disco Au Courant” Pontchartrain & Sleazy McQueen in their arsenal is it any wonder why they’re top of the disco food chain. One of Whiskey Disco’s spinoff sublabels ‘Lovedancing’ are another to watch out for, great credit to Sleazy McQueen for producing two very successful labels.

Upcoming on Lovedancing is the Something Else EP by Closed Paradise, the man with a deadly discography with previous releases on Whiskey Disco, Diggin’ Disco Deep & Better Listen. The French producer focuses on deep house via disco sounds with some special remixes from WD regular Pontchartrain and The Silver Rider also featuring on the 6th issue of the Lovedancing series. Track 2 on B side is a Bolting Bits exclusive, The Silver Rider remix of Set It Out, a spinning bass-heavy take on a great track The Silver Rider drives the track even deeper giving it a more raw club-ready feel while still keeping the core integrity of the tune still there. The track seems to take elements from a wide variety of different genres disco, ambient and a touch of jazz while keeping it deep with some euphoric sounds twisting around them signature vocals. Lovedancing, Closed Paradise and remixer The Silver Rider are definitely ones to watch this year so make sure to purchase this great EP.

Jad & The – Twist Club [FINA Records]

Since first catching ear of Germany via Australia convert Jad & The’s (Jad Lee) productions thanks to Berlin champions Toy Tonics, the long haired yahoo has continued to impress this writer. Between countless sets and co-managing the ever popular BEATS OF NO NATION, Jad’s still got time left over to craft his own audio wizardry.

Today it’s a giddy tune by the name of Twist Club. Made up of prominent cowbells, shuttling percussion, whistles and perky key sections, this an all out daytime hammer! Imagine that one friend who’s being a bit of a sad sack and not boogieing, this is that tune to get them off their sorry bums and moving! Twist Club doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. A track to warm the heels for what’s undoubtedly going to be a long and joyous day of dance.

This number’s off the incoming Twist Club EP out through London’s FINA Records. FINA have released previous gold from the likes of Saine, Closed Paradise and Paso. Owner Simon Morell and Corbi have one of the best attitudes about what he chooses to press saying “I’m interested in depth, warmth, funk: something I can play in years to come and still think it’s ace. I have zero interest in following the trends and signing stuff just because it’s Beatport Top 10 fodder.”

Simon we wholeheartedly agree! Best get twisting…

PREMIERE : Closed Paradise – Demon Avenue [FINA RECORDS]

Plavas Beach resident Closed Paradise has been a constant source for deep and ethereal mid-tempo house jams over the last few years. His most recent effort, the Praise EP, on FINA Records is no different. The three track 12″ showcases the big, moody side-chain heavy sound of the producer and marks his first release of 2017, though something tells us we’re about to get much more from the Frenchman.

While the A-Side is occupied by the Ben La Desh-esque deep house tackle “Praise”, our premiere comes from the B1 slot. “Demon Avenue” initiates with sirens and street car sounds before building in with a brooding, lush synth paired with looping vocals and a thumping bassline. Once the drums kick in, the influence is clear; Homework era programming is all over the percussion and arrangement. A sinister lead and filtered samples enter the fray at the climax of the track to really ice this beefy French House cake.

Despite some minor delays, Praise has been worth the wait. Closed Paradise’s interpolation of classic French House aesthetics into a heavy, pitched-down format laced with dreamy vibes remains unique and impressive.

CLOSED PARADISE – THE DISTANCE BETWEEN EP

Depuis maintenant une dizaine d’années, le label Kolour LTD issu de Détroit enchaîne les sorties et jouit d’une solide notoriété en signant notamment Eddie C, Dave Allison ou encore Fantastic man. Aujourd’hui c’est du côté de la France avec Closed Paradise que le label s’est tourné. Nourri de sables fins et du doux soleil de Palavas-les-Flots, ce jeune producteur se hisse une place grandissante dans la scène internationale et multiplie EPs et tournées. On avait déjà pu le remarquer lors de sa collaboration sur l’excellent various artist du label Long Week end Records. Un mot pourrait nous venir à l’esprit dès la première écoute : céleste !

Tel un voyage astral, l’EP ouvre avec « Planets ». Un son aérien, une rythmique projetée en orbite, une note et nous voilà parti au cœur même de « The Distance Between ». Afin de prolonger le trajet de «Planets», on salue le remix ensoleillé et soulful du duo irlandais Brame & Hamo, qui, littéralement, métamorphose cette track tout en gardant son authenticité originale. La suite de l’EP s’appuie sur le groove hypnotique de « Tunnels » avant de terminer sur «Moëlleuz» . Une co-production réalisée avec un autre français, Journey Reverse, représenté lui aussi sur le dernier EP de Long Week-end Records. Point culminant… et point de chute, cette dernière track se munie de quelques vocaux murement choisis, d’une rythmique plus punchy le tout reposant sur une trame très langoureuse qui fait indéniablement de « The Distance Between » un EP subtilement esthétique.
