REES is the musical project of Adam Rees, artist and label operator born in the industrial town of Middlesbrough, North East England. Curious of everything surrounding him, Adam spends life captivated by science, experimentation and the unknown, continuously exploring new paths. This attribute translates through into his music, and after years of drifting through various forms his sound is an accumulation of his findings of the weird and wonderful. Now, Adam arrives at his debut album, Music For Stalagmites, a reflection of his mind and the fourth instalment on Magic Ritmo.

Music For Stalagmites is a slow-form, immersive album created around the patient growth of stalagmites. Born from Adam’s fascination with the natural world, the album conceptualises stalagmites as sentient beings, imagining sound as nourishment for their formation.

From the first fall of rain, to its permeation through the earth into a subsurface cave, water undergoes a chain of chemical reactions before reaching its hollow destination. The reacted solution accumulates on the ceiling, dripping down onto the desolate cave floor. Over millennia, evaporation occurs leaving a growing mass of calcite mineral deposits, better known as stalagmites and their ceiling counterpart, stalactites. Music For Stalagmites poetically embodies animism, placing soul, spirit and sentience into their evolution.

Moving at an unhurried pace, the music unfolds through layered synth sediment, gritty echoes, and distant field recordings that breathe like damp cave walls. Drawing from leftfield downtempo, dub, trance, ambient, electro, trip-hop, and the hazy afterglow of 90s chill-out rooms, boundaries are blurred in favour of mood and texture. Nothing rushes here, everything accumulates. The album moves between tension and release, grit and clarity, fusing both natural and industrial textures in equal measure to create a place where stone feels alive. Music for places without light, for movements too slow to witness.

Continuum is exactly what its name suggests — a reflection of his ongoing evolution as an artist, shaped by every influence that has crossed his path along the way. These are tracks that have been sitting, waiting, sleeping for a few years now, only to finally reveal themselves at the dawn of summer.

On remix duties, queen Maruwa delivers a deep house reshuffle of the EP’s title track “Continuum”.

Signal Threat is the debut vinyl release of DRUUM aka James Orvis an exhilarating and boisterous chest pumping electro anthems. Raw and packed with energy DRUUM’s productions are explosive and have serious bite. His sound is distorted and bold unfiltered, drawing inspiration from the infamous electro punk scene where he has carved out a name for himself. DRUUM’s bridging of various styles and use of heavy breakbeats are stunningly edgy. Each sound is carefully modulated and designed purposefully it’s like a cage fight met a high stakes heist, buzzing with ruggedness. As some who have been following DRUUM are aware that he suffered two strokes in 2025. As DRUUM makes strong recovery, Dionysian Mysteries felt obligated to get a posse of remixers to help raise money and awareness for this bad ass release. An absolute stellar group of producers are behind this release in support of DRUUM. Producer, DJ and lighting designer Occyx steps up with Forecast, a self-released four-track statement laying the foundations of their futurist club sound. Across four original tracks, Occyx crafts kinetic, polyrhythmic club music shaped by sculptured low-end, metric modulation and experimental sampling.

On Forecast, rave-ready UK bass meets maximalist production instincts: slicing gated synths collide with breakbeats and sub hydraulics, acidic riffs bloom from teased-out low end, and reharmonised pop vocal fragments mutate into breakbeat futurism.

They have performed at Field Maneuvers Festival and alongside artists such as Lorenzo Senni, Mun Sing and Delay Grounds. Support for their productions comes from Air Max 97, Dual Monitor, and Severine.

bbsanii’s Paleta UFO evokes sun-drenched euphoria: a dreamy journey where sparkling textures and lush melodies meet rolling drum breaks and a groovy bassline. Its central arp melody swirls and spirals as the story unfolds. On her forthcoming Murciélago EP on Night Shop Records, bbsanii explores latinamerican, house and bass music with a distinct, modern fusion of sounds. Paleta UFO stands out as the sweetest and most addictive for the dancefloor.

Aptly named after the iconic Ecuadorian sweet treat, Paleta UFO is a lollipop dipped into sherbet — a nod to bbsanii’s upbringing between Otavalo and Naarm. They were a favourite of bbsanii’s who would buy them from corner stores in Ecuador during her childhood. A nostalgic reference that (coincidentally) fits seamlessly into the world of Night Shop: an ode to the playful hedonism of nightlife and the corner stores across the world that are so integral to local music communities.

Murciélago will be released on the 8th May with a launch party at Naarm/Melbourne late-night venue Angel Music Bar. Preorder the EP via the Night Shop Records Bandcamp.
