South Korean Artist Radiofear is presenting his new EP ‘Skyline’ on Zürichs Ozelot Records. It manifests and captures the contemporary experience of inhabiting the megacity of Seoul.

The album begins with a track called ‘Asphalt,’ which refers to the hard mixture that makes up the pavements and roads of a city. Despite its rough and lifeless appearance, it provides a firm ground for the pedestrians and vehicles, holding up their weight. The track therefore carries such duality of coldness and warmth associated with the streets of a metropolis. The next track ‘City Report’ is an intuitive response to the speed of urban life, consisting of fast drum sounds. Meanwhile, ‘Morning Shift’ paints an image of the dark blue sky at dawn—a sight that greets people as they
walk out of their houses to go to work in the morning. The last and main track ‘Skyline’ takes inspiration from the diversity of elements that comprises a city, from cars driving by to the lights blinking on billboards. Taking each observation and encounter as an ingredient, Radiofear builds a vivid image of his home city, where endurance, vigor, and solitude coincide.

Blue Coast is a raw house track, bringing you a nostalgic feeling. A main arpeggio phrase produces a hypnotic mood, and rough breakbeat that makes you high.

New York’s releisure is back. Hot off their recent reissue of Intergalactic Faerie Funk, they’ve lined up another name that should be familiar to our readers, Keita Sano. The Japanese producer has made a name for himself over the past 5 years or so and his tracks have been played the world over. With Afro influences and chunky basslines, there’s a good chance you’ve heard one of his club friendly jams recently.

Today we’re premiering the A2 on his releisure release, entitled “Paradise”. Using crunchy percussion and effective looping, Keita Sano has managed to create another dancefloor bomb. Subtle acid lines creep in and the strings create real tension, perfect for those dancers waiting for the beat to drop. Basically a DJs weapon, we expect this one to cause some major damage.

Jazzy Sport, the long standing, popular record shop and label from Tokyo, Japan is preparing its next record for release. The label focuses on a fusion of soul, jazz and hip-hop, oftentimes in a house-y direction, as is the case with the newest double LP to hit their catalogue. Kid Sublime is the man at the helm of the record entitled “The Padded Room”. The album sees the Dutch producer explore the sounds that the label is known for and perhaps sees him shy away a bit from hip-hop, a genre that has a place near and dear to his heart.

The album has guest appearances from a number of artists such as vocalist Damani Leidsman, percussionist Jos De Haas from New Cool Collective, soul collective the Dangerfeel Newbies and of course flutist Han Litz of the Kindred Spirits Ensemble who features on our premiere today. The Mandrill has got some bouncy percussion, a chunky bassline and a groovy piano sequence that are bound to make you move on any given day of the week. Add the fantastic jazzy flute skills of Han Litz and you’ve got that extra bit of spice that takes this track over the top and makes it one of the standout cuts on the album.

Don’t snooze on the rest of the album either as it is very much a dance record sprinkled with seasoning and influences from around the world.
