Paso – No Matter Where You’re From [FINA]

paso - fina recordsMunich-based Paso has been sliding out quality, hip-hop influenced house jams for a lil’ bit now; with some sweet drops on Paris-based D.KO Records of special note. His newest EP, Limited Perception, on FINA Records polishes off that same mid-tempo swang for a very tasty four-tracker. The producer sits incredibly comfy in that vein; clearly drawing equally from the likes of 90’s hip-hop production aesthetics and classic deep house vibes.

Our premiere off the record comes from the B2 slot. “No Matter Where You’re From” is a hazy, rising jam suitable for the deepest of late night motions. Sustained chords create a bittersweet texture above a smacking clap and kick. Looped, pitched and filtered vocals serve as the verse before a playful lead adds on to the progression. A nicely twangy solo helps signal the end of the morsel.

The other cuts on the EP operate in a similar, yet complimentary vibe. The moody, jazzy “Fuzy”; the dope deep house groover “Idiocracy”, and the dusty yet jumpy title track. Overall, an effortlessly cool EP from a producer who’s clearly got a knack for this type of deep house composition. And a nice addition to FINA’s run of late.
