Bristol-born keyboard maestro and Local Talk fave Crackazat is back with another full-length effort on the Swedish label. It’s his second LP on the imprint (the first being 2015’s Crescendo), and his sixth release in total with LT (the previous being the album teasing Proton Blue). Rainbow Fantasia is exactly what you would expect from the title and the producer’s established aesthetic; masterfully layered synth work crafted into bright. cosmic moods.

Our premiere from the release is the first track on the album, “Welcome Speech”, which commences with a cheeky, well, welcome speech sample and lush keys slowly crawling in. A thick kick/clap enters the fray and sets the beat for bouncy and arpeggiating, jazzy key solos. It’s a cinematic opener that is Crackazat at his strongest, weaving together sounds to create a vibe reminiscent of the influences of jazz-funk keyboard legends like Herbie, Lonnie and Quincy.
The rest of the LP follows in step; demonstrating the producer’s superiority with hardware in what is a cohesive voyage into a sonic comic rainbow.
